Consultation Process

Consultations with key stakeholders and the public are essential to the development of the Provincial adult literacy strategy. Consultations will be facilitated by Dwight Botting.

We are interested in hearing your view on literacy. You may wish to consider the following questions in developing your presentations/submissions.

  • In your view what is literacy?
  • What literacy-related competencies will Manitobans need in the year 2016?
  • What are the best ways to raise and maintain the literacy levels of all Manitobans?
  • What should be the key goals of, and what should be included in, the strategy?
  • In the literacy strategy, what are the key roles for government, industry, individuals, communities?
  • How will we know that actions taken to raise and maintain literacy levels have been effective?

Consultations will take place in a range of formats:

  • Public sessions which provide opportunities to make oral presentations
  • Focused discussions with adult literacy learners and practitioners
  • Meetings with key stakeholders
  • Web submission
  • Written submission by mail or e-mail
