Facts on Aging

  • Four to 10 per cent of older adults experience one or more forms of abuse at some point in later years.
  • By 2021, there will be approximately 224,000 older Manitobans (65 and over) accounting for 18.8 per cent of the total population.
  • Healthy aging is a lifelong process. This includes physical, social and mental wellness, independence and quality of life.
  • June 15 is World Elder Abuse Awareness Day.
  • The majority of older Manitobans are happy with themselves and their lives.
