Open Farm Days

Open Farm Day Banner

Manitobans are invited to travel to local farms

Open Farm Day in Manitoba is Sunday, September 21, 2014. Plan your route today by visiting these host farms.

Share your #OpenFarmDay experience!

Here’s how:

  • Use the #OpenFarmDay hashtag when tweeting about your agriculture adventures.
  • Take a selfie with a Manitoba farmer. (remember to use #OpenFarmDay!)
  • Retweet other #OpenFarmDay posts.

When you visit a host farm, you can discover the world of farming:

    • meet local farmers
    • explore farm operations
    • watch demonstrations
    • learn more about farm products
    • enjoy recreational activities
    • ask questions about farm life

Feel free to visit as many farms as you like. Consider staying overnight in the area to experience a full day and enjoy rural Manitoba. You can plan on one hour of stay per stop. Host farms may charge a fee for certain activities, ex: corn maze, pumpkin picking and some farms will have products available for purchase.

Look to buy local products along the way by checking out Manitoba’s Local Produce Guide for a listing of Manitoba’s farmers’ markets, pre-picked stands and u-pick vegetable gardens.

Preview the Open Farm Day experience by taking a sneak peek at what's in store, with videos from past and current participating host farms.

Manitoba's host farms are ready for your arrival. Get your family and friends together for this event and have fun!

Stay safe on your visit

  • Wear proper shoes, preferably not sandals.
  • Please leave pets at home.
  • Follow all directions from your farm hosts.
  • Keep a close watch on your children. Do not let kids wander on their own.
  • Please don't touch any animals without asking first.
  • Don't climb or play on farm machinery without permission.
