Guide to Vegetable Crop Production

This guide features current production and management information for Manitoba's commercial vegetable growers. Soil fertility recommendations and soil sampling, harvest, storage, disease, insect and weed control are discussed in detail. A section of the guide deals with irrigation information.

Featured crops are asparagus beans (snap and red), beets (red), broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, cantaloupe, carrots, cauliflower, celery, corn (sweet), cucumber (greenhouse), eggplant, garlic, honeydew, horseradish, lettuce (greenhouse and field), muskmelon, onions (dry bulb and green), parsley, parsnip, peas, pepper (sweet), pumpkin, radish, rutabagas, spinach, squash, Swiss chard, tomatoes and watermelon.

Oriental vegetable information is included for Asian radish, baby corn, bok choy, celery, cabbage, Chinese broccoli, Chinese cabbage, daikon (oriental radish), napa cabbage, oriental cucumber, oriental muskmelon, oriental watemelon, oriental zucchini, pak choi and  pe-tsai cabbage.
