Cost of production Commercial hemp grain price has remained fairly constant giving growers in the range of $.50 to $.55 cents a pound for clean grain. Organic production producer price is in the range of $.90 to $.95 cents a pound. These prices have remained fairly constant over the years. Cost of production budgets for all crops (including hemp) for 2005 can be downloaded on the Manitoba Agriculture website.
The assumption of $.55 cents a pound market price will need 370 pounds of marketable grain to cover total costs. This compares to wheat selling at $4.50 per bushel and needing 43.1 bu. per acre yield to cover all costs.
