Crown Land Improvement Program |
|
The Crown Land Improvement Program (CLIP) allows lessees to develop Crown land which is agriculturally suitable for crop and forage production. These improvements include bush clearing, meadow breaking and direct seeding. Authorization Lessees interested in developing their Crown land must apply through their Farm Production Advisor. A check is made to ensure the land use plan for the land allows development as well as if there are any reservations on the land by other users which would not allow land development. If development is allowed and the land is suitable, the development is authorized. Financing All development costs are the responsibility of the lessee and the lessee will own the development for the term of the lease. The lessee will not be reimbursed for costs of development when a lease expires or terminates. Rental Adjustment Lessee is allowed an agreed upon number of years (up to 10 years for knock down and pile, breaking and seed bed preparation) with no increase in rental for development compensation. The developed acres are adjusted to actual productivity in the reclassification year and rental will remain at that rate until a reclassification is carried out. For more detailed information on this or other policies, contact your local Manitoba Agriculture, Food and Rural Initiatives, Growing Opportunities, Farm Production Advisors, Crown Lands Offices. |
