Agricultural Crown Lands Leasing Program Policies

Advertising and Tendering of Agricultural Crown Lands for Cropping Lease
 

 

The policy is designed to allow advertising, tendering and awarding of Crown lands available for continuous cropping.

Notice of Tender

A notice of tender will be posted in all Manitoba Agriculture, Food and Rural Initiatives, Growing Opportunities Offices and Centres and advertised in appropriate local and provincial farm newspapers. The notice of tender will advise of the following:

  • Available Crown lands;
  • Tender closing time and date;
  • Tendered amount must equal or exceed the minimum rental;
  • The annual municipal taxes which will be due and payable in addition to the established annual rental rate; and
  • Applicant must meet eligibility criteria.

Tender Awarding

  • Sealed tenders are opened by a minimum of two Manitoba Agriculture, Food and Rural Initiatives, Crown Lands Section staff members.
  • Bidders whose completed applications and questionnaires do not meet the required eligibility criteria will have their remittance envelopes returned unopened.
  • The tender will normally be awarded to the eligible applicant with the highest tendered amount.
  • All applicants submitting bids will be advised of the successful bidder and advised that the names of bidders and the tender amounts are available to the bidders upon request.
