Agricultural Crown Lands Leasing Program Policies

Disposition of Available Crown Land

Lands available for lease are posted in all Manitoba Agriculture, Food and Rural Initiatives, Growing Opportunities Offices and Centres and advertised in appropriate local and provincial farm newspapers.

In certain circumstances, the advertising requirements may be waived at the Director's discretion. Examples of these situations include:

  • To another original applicant when a disposition made following the advertising of a parcel of land is cancelled within one year.
  • To an eligible applicant on a first-come basis within one year of an advertisement of a parcel of land where no applications were initially received.
  • To permittee who has been in continuous possession of the land under casual permit for three successive years prior to leasing.
  • To logical users due to limited access or physical features.

For more detailed information on this or other policies, contact your local Manitoba Agriculture, Food and Rural Initiatives, Growing Opportunities, Farm Production Advisors, Crown Lands Offices.
