Agricultural Crown Lands Leasing Program Policies

Eligibility to Acquire and/or Hold Agricultural Crown Land Under Lease or Permit
 

 

This policy provides farmers and ranchers interested in applying to rent available Crown lands with the eligibility criteria to acquire and/or hold agricultural Crown lands under lease or permit.

Applicants must be:

  • 18 years of age.
  • A Canadian citizen or a landed immigrant.
  • A resident of Manitoba.
  • Actively involved in the management of the leased land.
  • Perform most of the labour thereon.
  • Own sufficient livestock or demonstrate ownership of sufficient livestock and shall properly utilize the land within one year.
  • The entire land base, private and Crown, must not exceed a carrying capacity of 4800 animal unit months.
  • If a corporation, the company must be qualified to carry on business in Manitoba and all shareholders must meet eligibility requirements.
