Agricultural Crown Lands Leasing Program Policies
Eligibility to Acquire and/or Hold Agricultural Crown Land Under
Lease or Permit
This policy provides farmers and ranchers interested in applying to rent available
Crown lands with the eligibility criteria to acquire and/or hold agricultural Crown lands
under lease or permit.
Applicants must be:

18 years of age.

A Canadian citizen or a person with landed Canadian immigrant status.

A resident in Manitoba.

Actively involved in the management of the leased land.

Perform most of the labour thereon.

Own sufficient livestock or demonstrate ownership of sufficient livestock and shall
properly utilize the land within one year of the date of approval. .

The entire land base, private and Crown, must not exceed a carrying capacity of 4800
animal unit months.

If a corporation, the company must be qualified to carry on business in Manitoba and all
shareholders must meet eligibility requirements.
