"Plan - Farm - Safety"

Proclamation

What Makes a Safe Farm in Manitoba

To ensure the safety and health of everyone on your farm you need to:
  • Acknowledge that there are risks and make a commitment to change
  • . You can do this by putting your commitment to safety and health in writing, setting a good example, laying out clear expectations, keeping communication open and taking immediate action to deal with concerns
  • Make sure you have accurate information on operating procedures, chemical handling, livestock handling
  • Communicate to everyone working on your farm about the potential risks, and ensure all workers understand and are capable of doing the tasks assigned to them. This will involve training workers.
  • Identify and control any hazards on your farm. This means doing an inspection of your farm and taking action to correct any hazards
