The Food Development Centre's pilot plant is equipped and constructed to meet the Federal Meat Standards for registration under the Canadian Food Inspection Agency. In the plant, clients manufacture agriculturally-based products for research, market tests and commercial distribution.
The pilot plant is federally registered for meats, processed products and honey which allow clients to market their products nationally and internationally. It is also licensed to produce organic products through the Organic Producers Association of Manitoba (OPAM) and is licensed for hemp products through Health Canada.
The pilot plant is equipped with six processing suites and approximately 120 pieces of equipment to enable clients manufacture a wide variety of products and ingredients in many forms.Our packaging line and production line are designed for bars and baked goods. Our botting line has the capacity to product up to 7,000 units of 500 ml per day.
The current expansion and renovation at the Food Development Centre includes space for one or two incubation suites where companies can grow their businesses. These suits can be modified to the client's requirement for space and equipment. The client can bring in their own equipment or rent from the Food Development Centre.
