The FDC Process Development group provides assistance to clients in developing cost-effective processes for agriculturally-based products developed at FDC or in the client's facility.
FDC Process Development services include feasibility studies, process design and optimization, process troubleshooting, and equipment selection, design and evaluation. Process Development staff work closely with the client and Product Development consultants to achieve a consistent and high quality scaled-up commercial product.
Process Development at FDC takes place in an ideal setting for innovation. The FDC pilot plant is a federally registered processing facility for processing of agricultural products in many different commodity groups. All aspects of research and development are completed using in-house resources. The client has the opportunity to develop value-added products or extracted components of virtually any type.
Renting the pilot plant and appropriate in-house
technology likewise allows the client to identify and to overcome
many of the operational difficulties inherent in the scale-up
process before making independent equipment expenditures. The client
also becomes more skilled at projecting processing costs, which is
vital information to have for the successful launch of a product or
for proceeding with major capital acquisitions.
