About the Direct Farm Marketing Conference
The first conference was held in March 1996 in Brandon at the Agricultural Extension Centre. Planning began in the spring/summer of 1995 and the Direct Farm Marketing committee met with producer groups to put together the conference objective and goals.
The overall theme for each conference is marketing – it was felt the producer groups offered their clients the production information specific to their product, so we would focus on marketing.
By having a general topic we could attract producers from a variety of backgrounds – fruit growers, bed and breakfast operators, greenhouse operators, farmers’ marketers, u-pick farmers, country vacation owners and many others. We have offered high caliber speakers from Canada and the United States as well as many Manitoba experts.
