Turkey Burrito Burger

Turkey Burrito Burger

2 lbs (1 kg) ground turkey
1 (1) 4 oz (125 mL) chopped green chilies
1 cup (250 mL) onion, chopped
1 (1) 1 ¼ oz (42 g) pkg. taco seasoning mix
8 (8) 8" (20 cm) flour tortillas
16 oz (398 g) refried beans
½ cup (125 mL) cheddar cheese, shredded
lettuce, shredded
salsa, optional
vegetable cooking spray

Spray cold grill rack with vegetable cooking spray. Preheat charcoal grill for direct-heat method cooking.

In a medium bowl combine turkey, chilies, onion and seasoning mix. Evenly divide turkey mixture into eight 9" x 2" (22 cm x 5 cm) rectangular-shaped burgers. Grill burgers 3 to 4 minutes, turn and continue cooking another 3 to 4 minutes or until 165°F (74°C) internal temperature is reached and meat is no longer pink in the center. Remove and keep warm.

Heat tortillas and spread each tortilla with refried beans and sprinkle with lettuce. Place burgers in the center of each tortilla and sprinkle with cheese. Fold sides of tortilla over burger to create a burrito. Serve with salsa.

Makes 8 servings.
