Chili Ribs

Chili Ribs
 
3 lbs (1.5 kg) pork spareribs or back ribs
1 (1) 455mL bottle of chili sauce
3 tbsp (45 mL) cider vinegar
1 ½ tsp (7 mL) dry mustard
6 tbsp (90 mL) brown sugar
1 ½ tbsp (20 mL) Worcestershire sauce
pinch (pinch) red pepper flakes
¼ cup (50 mL) water


In a small saucepan, combine chili sauce, vinegar, mustard, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, pepper flakes and water. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer about 5 minutes. Cool. Cut ribs into serving-size pieces. Place in a saucepan or fry pan with just enough water to cover. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer about 30 minutes. Remove meat and drain well. Place in a shallow dish or plastic bag. Coat ribs well with sauce. Cover pan or seal bag. Refrigerate 2 - 24 hours. Broil 6 - 8 inches from heat or grill over medium-high heat, brushing with sauce and turning occasionally, until browned and heated through.
