Spirited Entertaining: Great New Recipes Using Manitoba Foods

Maple Café au Lait

As an alternative you can use 4 cups of milk (and omit the coffee) for a warm and soothing nighttime beverage.
2 cups (500 mL) strong, fresh coffee or espresso
2 cups (500 mL) milk
1/4 cup (50 mL) Maple Syrup Liqueur or maple syrup
2 (2) cinnamon sticks
ground cinnamon (optional)
whipped cream (optional)
Brew coffee. In a large saucepan, combine milk, maple syrup and cinnamon sticks. Cook and stir over medium heat until heated through. Pour hot coffee and hot milk mixture simultaneously into mugs. Top with real whipped cream and sprinkle with cinnamon, if desired.

Makes: 4 cups (1 L).
