What's New?

  • External Food Safety Audits
An external food safety audit is done by an organization that is not associated with your company. There are two types of external audits: second party and third party. During an external audit, auditors gather objective evidence to demonstrate that your food safety system: meets the program or customer requirements, is properly implemented and works effectively to control food safety hazards.

  • Mustard as a Food Allergen
Health Canada scientists conducted a systematic literature review on the allergenicity of mustard to determine the scientific validity of including mustard on the list of priority food allergens in Canada. It is recommended that mustard be added to the Canadian list of food allergens and that the Food Allergen Labelling Regulations, which require enhanced labelling for priority allergens in pre-packaged foods be updated accordingly in order to ensure that mustard allergic consumers in Canada are protected.

  • Conferences and Meetings

  • Update your calendar with new conferences and meetings coming up this winter for the food processing industry.
  • Food Safety Tip
Cold weather means that rodents and other pests will be looking for a warm refuge. Now is the time to check your pest control measures: ensure that all gaps, cracks and crevices are sealed to prevent entry; pay attention to good housekeeping and sanitation practices so that pests cannot get in or around your premises.
