Growing Visions strengthening organizations

The Growing Visions program provides agricultural and food organizations with financial assistance to develop strategic plans.

Many organizations have already benefited from the funding which has helped them determine clear objectives, develop critical skills in their board members and improve overall board management as they lead the industry forward.

Some of the organizations supported through Growing Forward 2's Growing Visions program include:

  • Manitoba Association of Agricultural Societies - The organization provides ag societies with the tools and opportunities to develop and promote vital rural communities.
  • Manitoba Wheat and Barley Growers Association - Working to ensure wheat and barley are profitable and internationally competitive crop choices for Manitoba farmers, the organization is researching the strategic implications of the future of cereal variety development in Canada.
  • Manitoba Pulse Growers Association - Representing 3,000 farmers in Manitoba, the organization helps members operate profitable farms. In 2013 pulses represented $74 million in farm cash receipts and $123 million in export revenue including product grown elsewhere in Canada.
  • Hanover Agricultural Society - The organization presents the annual Hanover Ag Fair, as well as a spring rodeo, summer rodeo and June demolition derby. Agricultural societies and the events they hold drive economic development and tourism in Manitoba.
  • Parkland Industrial Hemp Growers Cooperative Ltd. - A producer owned co-op that grows and processes industrial hemp for grain and fibre, the organization works to grow the hemp industry in Manitoba. In 2013, hemp represented $8 million in farm cash receipts. Manitoba farmers produced 10 million pounds of hemp in 2013.
  • Manitoba Food Processors Association - The organization represents more than 260 member companies and promotes Manitoba-made food products to local and international markets. Food and beverage processing is the largest manufacturing sector in Manitoba accounting for more than 26 per cent of Manitoba's total manufacturing sales.
  • Keystone Agricultural Producers - The organization works to ensure Manitoba's agricultural industry remains profitable, sustainable and globally competitive. In 2013, Manitoba's farm cash receipts totalled $5.8 billion and its net farm income totalled $1.4 billion.
  • Manitoba 4-H Council - Working to develop community leadership in youth between the ages of 6 and 25, the organization provides valuable tools to the provincial 4-H program.
