Growing Adaptation

Growing Adaptation supports water management projects that create sustainable systems to secure adequate supplies of quality water for agricultural, agrifood and agribusiness in rural areas.

Ensuring a stable supply of quality water will help the agriculture sector grow and develop in environmentally sustainable ways. And that will, in turn, support business and overall economic growth in rural areas. Rural municipalities, incorporated water co-operatives and agricultural organizations can receive funds for multi-user water infrastructure projects  or water management studies including:

  • strategic, rural, mainline water pipeline and multi-user potable water storage projects
  • multi-user well development projects
  • rural, potable and non-potable water sourcing studies
  • regional, non-potable water management studies
Growing Adaptation helps ensure the agricultural sector in Manitoba has access to a secure supply of water. The goal is to meet current needs and reduce risk of future water shortages caused by climate change and provide economic development. This program will increase the resiliency and sustainability of farm and value-added businesses.
