These programs involve recruitment and selection, wage and salary administration, staff training and development, performance management systems, employee relations, personnel records and benefits and payrolls. In addition, the Human Resources Unit provides planning and consultation, human resource services and assistance to the management of the Food Development Centre (FDC) and the Manitoba Agricultural Services Corporation (MASC).

Strategic Planning Directorate

The Strategic Planning Directorate (SPD) is responsible for providing leadership in the development of the Department’s vision and strategic and consultations plans; fostering excellence in unit-level strategic planning and consultation activities; supporting, monitoring and reporting on implementation of strategic directions and policies for the Department; and integrating the strategic directions of the rural sector and agriculture and food industries into the Departmental strategy.

The SPD provides assistance to the Department to identify new opportunities for agriculture and rural and northern communities in Manitoba.  The SPD introduces options for management’s consideration on strategic paths for transformational change in the agriculture and food industries as well as rural communities. The SPD invites and generates discussion on hypothetical scenarios and provides strategic planning assistance to commodity groups identified by the Department as having potential for further strategic economic development.
