Sheep Organizations

The Manitoba Sheep Association Inc. represents all sheep producers in Manitoba, both commercial and purebred and is the only recognized sheep organization in the Province. The Canadian Sheep Federation represents sheep producers at the federal level while the Canadian Sheep Breeders Association, which is a member of the CSF, represents the purebred side of the industry. The Canadian Cooperative Wool Growers is a producer run cooperative, and is Canada’s major wool marketing organization. The Manitoba Sheep Association operates wool depots on behalf of the CCWG to collect and ship the annual wool clip. The CCWG also operates a stockmans supply operation with online ordering possible. Other organizations listed include the Ontario and Alberta sheep organizations, the Canadian Livestock Records Corporation, which allows online registration of purebred sheep, and the American Sheep Industry Association.
