The dry fall of 2007 and the dry spring of 2008 coupled with cool temperatures in May and June have meant that forage growth for livestock has been limited in part of Manitoba. For producers who find themselves short on feed, it can be difficult to access hay to make up the shortfall. Ducks Unlimited, a partner in the Manitoba Forage Council, has recently announced a tendering process for harvesting hay on land parcels that they administer. Instructions on how to submit a tender and a listing of where such hayland is located have been posted. Note that time is short to get bids in – July 11th by noon.
