This project will add another year, and more information to the project 04.556 “Improving water use efficiency of Dryland pastures which is due for final report on April 2008 and project 05.725 “ Importance of Litter Accumulation in Native & Tame Pastures” results of which have been published in the Feb, 2007 issue of Forage Focus by Manitoba Forage Council.  Using the same sites projects 04.556 & 05.725 this project will add the expertise of Dr. Lindsay Bell and take extra measurements of

      1. Pasture yield (4th year)

      2. water use efficiency 4th year

3. litter production 4th year

and new data for each of these sites of:

      1. measurement of deep root reserves

2. root biomass

3. soil carbon
