Through this project, ARDI will assist in the
development of the Richardson Centre for Functional Foods and
Nutraceuticals (RCFFN). The focus of RCFFN is to become a nationally
and internationally recognized Centre of Excellence for research and
development of functional foods and nutraceuticals.
The
research goals are to:

Enhance the activities of the research community at the University of
Manitoba in functional foods and nutraceuticals through the provision
of state-of-the-art research facilities and the opportunity to develop
multi-disciplinary research.

Make a major contribution to the economic viability of the functional
foods and nutraceuticals industry in western Canada through the
identification of new products from western Canadian crops.

Provide safety and efficacy testing of functional food and
nutraceutical products for external agencies as a service to the
industrial community.

Partner with other research institutions in Manitoba and in Canada in
order to collectively foster and build the functional food and
nutraceutical industry in Canada.
