The Canada-Manitoba Agreement on Agricultural Sustainability (CMAAS) was a success story, with many Manitobans finding new ways toconduct the business of food production in a sustainable manner. Hundreds of CMAAS-sponsored activities were carried out across Manitoba from 1993 to 1997.

CMAAS provided program funding to local and provincial farm groups and commodity organizations. CMAAS also funded various resarch intiaties and provided direct delivery of programs through staff and resources provided by federal and provincial government agencies.

A key achievement of CMAAS was the many partnerships between producers, conservation groups, commodity organiztaions, government and agri-business.

CMAAS was part of an ongoing evolution of publicly funded programming focused on encouraging agriculture to adopt sustainable means of food production.
