Manitoba Agriculture, Food and Rural Initiatives

Environmental Farm Plan

The program was officially announced in June 2005 under the Agricultural Policy Framework agreement and ran until March 2008. The Manitoba Environmental Farm Plan (EFP) program had a huge success rate: as of June 2008, over 5,000 Manitoba producers attended an individual EFP workshop and received a statement of completion, resulting in over 8,500 on-farm projects which addressed environmental risks on Manitoba farms.

The EFP program is continuing under a transition year agreement for up to one year or until the next agreement under Growing Forward has been implemented. However, the Canada-Manitoba Farm Stewardship Program is fully subscribed. New partnership initiatives between the Governments of Canada and Manitoba are being developed under Growing Forward.
