Manitoba Agriculture, Food and Rural Initiatives

Why Participate?

Participation in the EFP process can help producers:

  • confirm the environmental benefits of their current management practices;
  • increase awareness of environmental risks of their farms;
  • identify options and actions to reduce any risks;
  • increase environmental sustainability of the farm operation; and
  • contribute to environmental protection and conservation while improving farm production efficiency.

By taking action to improve management practices, producers will:

  • minimize environmental impacts of farming operations and demonstrate environmentally sustainable practices;
  • contribute to improved air, water and soil quality, and increased biodiversity on Manitoba farmland;
  • make Manitoba-grown commodities more marketable to environmentally conscious consumers around the world; and
  • demonstrate “due diligence” as part of a business risk management program.
