Why Participate?
Participation in the EFP process can help producers:
- confirm the environmental benefits of their current
management practices;
- increase awareness of environmental risks of their
farms;
- identify options and actions to reduce any risks;
- increase environmental sustainability of the farm
operation; and
- contribute to environmental protection and conservation
while improving farm production efficiency.
By taking action to improve management
practices, producers will:
- minimize environmental impacts of farming operations and
demonstrate environmentally sustainable practices;
- contribute to improved air, water and soil quality, and
increased biodiversity on Manitoba farmland;
- make Manitoba-grown commodities more marketable to
environmentally conscious consumers around the world; and
- demonstrate “due diligence” as part of a business risk
management program.
