Discussion :

A low pressure system currently over North Dakota has a frontal trof extending northward into Central Mb. which is bringing lots of convective showers and thundershowers ,heavy at times, into southern Mb. this morning. The low is moving northward at about 25 knots to be in the central Interlakes by this afternoon and just east of Thompson by this evening so the band of convective activity is sliding northwards up through the province. The eastern progression on this precipitation is quite slow so those areas that are getting moisture will continue to get lots of moisture (as much as 40-50 mms) by this evening. By tonight, the frontal trof will finally swing over to the east side of Lake Winnipeg so most of the moisture will be experienced there with some clearing expected to occur along the west side by as early as this evening with similar conditions expected through the Red River Valley and east of Lake Winnipeg overnight.Tomorrow look for a more southwest-westerly flow of fairly dry stable air west of this frontal trof resulting in mainly sunny skies and temperatures closer to normal.

Discussion :

The frontal trof extending up through the Interlakes and into central Mb. has already spread cloud and convective showers/thundershowers into the southern portions of central Mb. and Norway House had already reported 36 mms of precipitation from a thundershower earlier this morning. Generally precipitation amounts are supposed to be in the 5-15 mms range but as can be seen from Norway House larger amounts are possible in heavier convective activity.Much like southern Mb. some clearing is expected along the west side tonight but the airmass remains somewhat unstable so look for more convective showers or even a risk of a thundershower by tomorrow afternoon.

Discussion :

The frontal trof extending up through central Mb. continues up through the eastern side of northern Mb. as well such that cloudy skies and showers or periods of rain are expected there today while the west side will see more variable cloud with only a chance of a shower. Showers will become more widespread by tonight as a low pressure system moves up along this frontal trof bringing more unstable moist air northward.A moderate westerly flow develops on the back side of this low tomorrow bringing cooler somewhat unstable air into play for all of the north resulting in cloudy skies with showers or a risk of a thundershower possible.

REMARKS :

Generally unsettled conditions are expected through to Friday for most of the province as a trof and associated low pressure system persist. A ridge of high pressure is forecast to begin pushing in by Friday night resulting in clearing skies and cooler temperatures forecast for the start of the week-end as a more northerly flow sets up.. It should definitly feel like fall with highs of 10-15 C in the north and 15-18 C in the south. NOTE...This is the last Internet forecast for the year.
