Attracting New Manitobans
2007 Manitoba Budget Address - Growing our Population and Workforce
Having achieved the goal of attracting 10,000 immigrants per year, the province in this budget address sets another bold target to double immigration levels over 10 years.
Canada-Manitoba Immigration Agreement and Annexes
This agreement originally signed by Manitoba and the Government of Canada in 2003 empowers the province to select immigrants through the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program and to put in place programs for successful settlement and labour market integration.
Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program for Skilled Workers
Manitoba manages the most successful, provincial nominee program in Canada, selecting prospective immigrants most likely to settle permanently and participate fully in the economic, social and cultural life of our communities.
Temporary Foreign Worker initiatives
Manitoba co-operates with the province's employers and with international governments to facilitate the recruitment of workers under Canada's Temporary Foreign Worker Program. These workers may then be eligible to apply to stay in Manitoba permanently through the Manitoba PNP.
- The Worker Recruitment and Protection Act
Under this legislation Manitoba employers that wish to recruit temporary foreign workers first register with Manitoba Labour and Immigration. This eases the process for the employer while ensuring visiting workers are treated fairly.

This document sets out Manitoba's agenda for helping internationally educated and experienced professionals gain recognition to hasten their entry into the Manitoba labour market.
The Fair Registration Practices in Regulated Professions Act
This act establishes the Manitoba Fairness Commissioner, who works with professional regulatory bodies in the province to help New Manitobans overcome obstables to having their international qualification recognized and get licensed to work here.
