April 7, 2008 News Release : Consultations To Be Held On Energy And Water Efficiency

This website provides information about the energy and water efficiency recommendations received by government and guidance on how stakeholders can participate in the consultations taking place from April 7, 2008 to June 30, 2008.

The intent is to develop and implement minimum energy efficiency and water efficiency requirements for cost-effective new, commercial construction and houses.

The Office of the Fire Commissioner is responsible for the development of all building codes in Manitoba and is pleased to host these consultations for the Government of Manitoba. We invite you to share your comments during this time.

The provincial government is committed to improving conservation practices that save money, reduce reliance on non-renewable fossil fuels, reduce greenhouse-gas emissions and preserve our lakes and rivers. Provincial initiatives in these areas include:

  • requirements for increased insulation in new-house construction
  • Manitoba's Green Building Policy for provincially-funded buildings
