Research Room Rules

Our Documents are in Your Hands

RECORDS IN THE ARCHIVES OF MANITOBA ARE HELD IN TRUST FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS. PLEASE HELP TO PROTECT MANITOBA'S HERITAGE BY FOLLOWING THESE FEW SIMPLE RULES

  • Coats, jackets, bags and briefcases are not allowed in the Research Room. Baskets are available at the Security Desk to carry any items you need.
  • Pencils must be used at all times in the Research Room.
  • Eating, drinking and smoking are not allowed in the Research Room.
  • Documents must be handled with great care. They should not be written on, leaned on, folded or bent.
  • Documents, photographs, books and tapes are not to be removed from the Research Room.
  • Documents are not to be removed from file folders. The order of documents within files and boxes is not to be changed.
  • White gloves are provided and must be worn when working with original photographs and pre-1870 documents.
