Hudson's Bay Company and Lord & Taylor together again

On July 16, 2008, Hudson’s Bay Company and Lord & Taylor became part of a consolidated Hudson’s Bay Trading Company. Records from the HBC Archives show this is not the first time HBC has had a business association with Lord & Taylor.

As shown in the document, Lord & Taylor was a regular customer of HBC during the late 1920’s and early 1930s, purchasing HBC’s now iconic point blankets for discerning New York customers. Purchases were handled by Hudson’s Bay Company Incorporated, a subsidiary of HBC. HBC Inc. sold blankets wholesale to retailers from New York to California. Other customers identified in this document include R.H. Macy & Co., Joseph Horne Co., J.C. Penney, and David T. Abercrombie (now Abercrombie & Fitch).

The record of blanket sales is part of a series of accounting records entitled “Hudson's Bay Company Incorporated ledgers and account books”. The records of HBC Inc., and its Canadian counterpart Hudson’s Bay Wholesale, demonstrate HBC’s continued activity as a supplier of goods across the North American continent.
