You can find many books by Manitoba authors in Manitoba’s public libraries. |
Canadian literature’s roots are deeply embedded in Manitoba’s soil. From pioneers like Frederick Philip Grove, Gabrielle Roy and Margaret Laurence to contemporary storytellers like Miriam Toews, David Bergen and Thomson Highway, Manitobans have captivated Canada and the world with their words. The newest generation of writers are supported by networks of writers’ organizations such as the Manitoba Writers Guild, festivals such as the Winnipeg International Writers Festival, libraries, publishers and literary journals.
