Arts Branch

The Arts branch supports and stimulates the growth, development and sustainability of Manitoba arts and of Manitoba's arts-based and cultural industries in order to promote and enhance the creativity, identity and well-being of Manitobans and accelerate the arts' contribution to the economic viability and global profile of the province.

Our Mandate

• Assists and supports community initiatives to promote access by all Manitobans to the study, creation, production, exhibition and publication of works in the arts.
  
  
• Delivers support to the development of Manitoba's film and sound recording, publishing, visual arts and crafts industries including support to Manitoba Film and Music.
  
  
• Co-ordinates involvement in inter-provincial, national and international cultural initiatives, and provides support services and consultation in both official languages in the areas of marketing, arts management, resource development, skills training and cultural policy.
  
  
• Maintains responsibility for the management of the Manitoba Government Art Collection, including acquisition of art, maintenance and care of the existing collection and development of the policy and legislation that governs the collection.
