What is the Historic Places Initiative (HPI)?

The Historic Places Initiative is a heritage program that was developed in collaboration between the Federal government and Canadian provinces and territories. This pan-Canadian initiative is being led in Manitoba by the Historic Resources Branch of Manitoba Culture, Heritage and Tourism. HPI will help foster greater appreciation of the diversity and value of heritage sites, buildings, and special locations across Canada, including those in Manitoba. The central web site for the Historic Places Initiative, which includes access to the HPI tools, is historicplaces.ca.
