Hilton United Church

Designation Date: August 14, 1996
Designation Authority: The R.M. of Strathcona
Present Owner: Prairie Lakes (R.M.)

The clean, simple lines of Hilton United Church, built in 1952, combine domestic architectural traditions from the era with elements of Gothic inspiration. The low walls, shallow roof and rectangular openings on the southwest side are all indicative of a bungalow or ranch style house. It is in the windows along the nave that we find the spiritual foundation for the building. These slightly pointed openings are the distant echoes of one of the basic elements of the Gothic Revival: the pointed arch.
