Lambert House
NW 18-4-5E,
St. Malo area

Lambert House

Designation Date: October 9, 2001
Designation Authority: R.M. of De Salaberry
Present Owner: privately owned

The various peoples who settled this province in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries often sought to reflect their cultural origins through their buildings. This was accomplished in their churches but also in their houses. This house, built around 1909 by the Lambert family, farmers in the St. Malo area, has distinct French attributes, the most obvious of which is the roof, a gambrel shape that was frequently used by French-speaking settlers. The house has been neglected for some years but new owners anticipate reviving it as a museum.
