Over 2,200 Manitobans will benefit from grants totalling $52,500 for programs designed to assist special needs adults and senior citizen adult education, Education and Training Minister Linda McIntosh announced today.
The programs are for adult literacy, basic education and high school completion as well as specially designed programs for disabled adults. Grants will also be provided to two seniors' groups for delivery of educational, cultural, recreational and health promotion programs for seniors.
"The programs and activities for adult learners will provide academic upgrading, language training, and for some, life skills and job skills", said McIntosh.
"These six projects for adults with special needs and two programs for senior citizens demonstrate this government's commitment to supporting initiatives that provide educational opportunities for Manitobans of all ages."
