CONGRATULATIONS OFFERED TO RECIPIENTS OF MANITOBA ABORIGINAL YOUTH ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS

Aboriginal and Northern Affairs Minister Oscar Lathlin today offered his congratulations to all the 2002 Manitoba Aboriginal Youth Achievement Award recipients and applauded them for creating positive role models for young people throughout the province.

The ninth annual Manitoba Aboriginal Youth Achievement Awards were presented last night at the Winnipeg Convention Centre.

"It is my pleasure to acknowledge the accomplishments of these Aboriginal youth who have achieved excellence," said Lathlin. "It is important to honour the successes of our Aboriginal youth. Their outstanding efforts and dedication are an example to all Manitobans."

The Manitoba Aboriginal Youth Achievement Awards acknowledge accomplishments in a variety of categories including academic, cultural, business, athletic, artistic, personal achievement, volunteerism and employment.
