BRANDON--The provincial government is investing over $239,000 in Brandon through the Neighbourhoods Alive! initiative including funds for park improvements, property renovations and a lighted river-bank pathway, Intergovernmental Affairs Minister Jean Friesen, lead minister for the initiative, has announced.
"Community development is a priority for this government," said Friesen. "With projects like these, we're investing in the future of our neighbourhoods and providing safe and attractive places for Manitobans to live."
Speaking on behalf of Friesen, Family Services and Housing Minister Drew Caldwell announced details of the funding for six projects here today.
The Brandon Neighbourhood Renewal Corporation (BNRC) will receive $99,950 for green space development and enhancements to Stanley and Rideau parks. The improvements include playground, pathways and lighting upgrades.

Neighbourhoods Alive! is a long-term, community-based, social and economic development strategy that supports and encourages community-driven revitalization efforts in specific neighbourhoods in Brandon, Winnipeg and Thompson. The strategy focuses on key areas such as housing and physical improvements, employment and training, education and recreation, safety, and crime prevention.
