As a precautionary measure, a beach posting has been issued for Big Whiteshell Lake (South Shore).
Due to a mechanical malfunction at the main sewage lift station, raw sewage was spilled in proximity of the beach at Big Whiteshell Lake (South Shore). Pending further test results, swimming or water contact at Big Whiteshell Lake (South Shore) is not recommended by the regional medical officer of health.
Manitoba Health is advising campers, cottagers and business owners along the south shore of Big Whiteshell Lake to boil water from the lake before using it for drinking, cooking, washing fruit and vegetables, and brushing teeth.
Manitoba Conservation will continue to monitor the situation with further testing.
