RIVER REPORT FOR SOUTHERN MANITOBA
The rainstorm crossing southern Manitoba
today will not be producing the heavy rain forecast yesterday. Rain amounts are
expected to be less than 10 millimetres. Today’s rain
will have little effect on river levels.
Red River
·
Levels of the Red River
rose about half a foot over the past 24 hours. The crest is now in the Emerson
area and should reach Winnipeg
this Friday or Saturday.
·
Additional rises on the Red
River will be less than one foot.
·
There will be no operation of the Red River
Floodway since today’s rainfall will be light and further rises of the Red River will be minimal.
Roseau
River
·
Levels of the Roseau River
have changed little in the past 24 hours. It appears that crests from the U.S. run-off
may be lower than expected.
Other Streams
Many streams in southeastern Manitoba
are running at above average levels but are expected to remain within banks
unless heavy rain develops in the next few weeks. While fields are generally
wet, additional rain expected on the Victoria Day long weekend is unlikely to
create flooding problems.
