The Land Titles office has outlined its 2006-07 rate structure for the registration of some documents and related services.
The new rates are for registrations including title requests, transmissions, amending agreements, discharges, caveats, orders for sale or foreclosure and others.
A new option for rush service of copies of titles and documents will now also be available at an additional cost of $20.
The Property Registry is planning significant technology improvements to the Land Titles Office which will require additional capital expenditures. The added revenue will help cover the cost of these enhancements which will improve the services available to Manitobans. New and improved services include a new online payment option, improved security for the information, more user-friendly screens, improved reports and the ability to order copies of plans and instruments online.
The rate change will retain Manitoba’s ranking in the middle ranking among Canadian jurisdictions. Some rates have not changed for over 20 years.
The new rates will come into effect Aug. 21 and are expected to generate close to $304,000 in additional revenue in 2006-07. The rates were announced in the most recent budget.
There have been no changes to the most common real estate transaction fees. Transfer of land fees and mortgage registration fees remain the same. Service fees such as electronic searches and copies of documents remain the same.
Some fees have been eliminated including those for filing or withdrawing instruments with real property applications, dispensing with duplicate titles and copies of tracing film.
