CLOSED
All snowmobile trails in Whiteshell Provincial Park including the Rennie-Elma Trail are now closed for the season. The spring weather has melted snow and deteriorated trail conditions. This is the last report for the year - thanks for visiting the Whiteshell this winter and we hope to see you next year.
Important Notes for all Park Visitors
The spring weather has begun to melt snow and ice on all trails. Poor ice conditions exist on all bodies of water; therefore travel is not advised on any lakes, ponds or rivers.

Snowmobiling Tips
- If you go through the ice, your snowmobile suit ( even a non-buoyant one) and a helmet may keep you afloat for several minutes. Slide back onto the ice, kick your feet and roll away from the hole. Keep your mitts on as they will help you grab the ice. Use anything sharp to dig for a better pull.
- Make sure your headlight and taillights are clear of snow and dress for the colder temperature darkness brings.
- Carry a useful tool kit, spare parts, flashlight, first aid kit and a few survival items such as high energy food, matches in a water proof container, compass and a whistle.
- Check the weather and conditions of the trails before traveling.
- Drowning is one of the leading causes of snowmobiling fatalities. Consider buying a buoyant snowmobile suit.
- Before each ride, follow the "pre-op" check outlined in your owner's manual. Make sure your headlights are clear of snow.
- Travel is not recommended on all lakes, rivers or streams.
- Check the weather report and heed precautions and advisories. If weather warnings suggest a severe wind chill or extremely low temperatures, consider avoiding outdoor activities until the weather improves. Dress smart!
- Wear a snowmobiling helmet. Slow down and enjoy the scenery and the experience.
- Keep a trail map with you and know where you are. Stay on marked trails.
