The Canadian Base Network is a high-accuracy GPS-based network consisting of concrete pillars with a nominal spacing of 200 km. The Canadian Base Network program was initiated in 1994, in cooperation with the provinces, to complement the Canadian Active Control System. It provides easily accessible, high-accuracy control. The Manitoba Spatial Reference Network is a GPS-based network consisting of survey markers with a nominal spacing of 40 km. The Manitoba Spatial Reference Network program was initiated in 1998 to provide increased accessibility to CSRS values.
