Prairie Day

Manitoba Tall Grass Prairie Preserve

Thanks to everyone who came out last year to help us celebrate the Preserve’s 20th anniversary!

We explored upland and wetland habitats, and learned about Manitoba bats, natural hazards, caring for wildlife, the use of fire in prairie preservation, and more! Kids loved hunting bugs with a professional entomologist, critter dipping, face painting and bannock bake.

In celebration, we had some special evening activities which included a traditional Ukrainian supper, a museum tour, wildflowers from A to Z, bat detecting and blacklighting for nocturnal insects.

The Preserve is located down Prairie Shore Trail, 2 miles east of Tolstoi. A map is available here for download [95KB]]. For more informaiton contact the Preserve headquarters at (204)425-3229 or by email.

Check back in early to mid summer for next year's activities!
