Special Conservation Areas

Special Conservation Areas are designated to protect unique species during critical times of the year and are posted annually. Three SCA's exist in Manitoba:

Walter Cook SCA (59.5 ha)
Clandeboye Bay SCA (176.4 ha)
Churchill SCA (35,823.1 ha)

The first two SCA's were created to protect nesting Piping Plovers, while the latter was created to protect Ross' Gull nests.
