Getting There: The Childs Lake subdivision is in Duck
Mountain Provincial Park on the east shore of Childs Lake about
440km (273 miles) northwest of Winnipeg or 65km (40 miles) northeast
of Roblin along PR 367. It is on the southwest corner of the Park.
Access to the subdivision is at the end of Pintail Road directly off
PR 367 just east of the Childs Lake Lodge and existing cottages.
All roads in the Park (including the PR’s) are gravel.
Primary access to the subdivision from the City of Dauphin is by
PTH 5 west and then by PTH 10 north to the junction of PR 367 at the
community of Garland. Turn west on PR 367 into the Park and
continue west to Pintail Road, then go north to the end of Pintail
Road, where the new subdivision begins. Alternative access is
available via PR 367 off PTH 83 north of Roblin and head east to
Childs Lake.
Location & Description of Subdivision: Childs Lake is 836
hectares (2066 acres) in size, has 25km (15.5 miles) of shoreline, a
maximum depth of 48.2 meters (158.1 feet) and a mean depth of 15.0
meters (49.2 feet). The public boat launch and beach are located
near the campground and lodge. The 25-lot subdivision has an
average lot size of 1/2 acres but may vary due to topographical
requirements.
Services: The subdivision has gravel road access and
Hydro. Holding tanks are required for sewage and any waste water
generated from a pressurized water system. Local septic pumping
services are available. Successful drilling of individual wells has
been limited in the area. Limited services are found at Childs Lake
Lodge and full services are provided in Roblin to the southwest or
Ethelbert and Dauphin to the south. MTS is available in the Childs
Lake area. Currently, cell phones give limited service in Duck
Mountain Provincial Park.
