Getting There: The Wellman Lake
subdivision is in Duck Mountain Provincial Park on the west shore of
Wellman Lake about 453km (281 miles) northwest of Winnipeg or 44km
(27 miles) south of the Town of Minitonas along PR 366. It is on
the northern edge of the Park, between Regatta Bay day use area and
the older cottage subdivision. Access is via an internal park road
(gravel) connecting to PR 366.
Primary access to the subdivision from the City
of Dauphin is by PTH 10 north to the junction of PR 367. Turn east
on PR 367 into the Park to the west/north junction of PR 366 at East
Blue Lake. Continue north on PR 366 to the Wellman Lake access road
where an internal park road runs parallel to the west shore of the
subdivision. An alternative access is PR 366 from PTH 5 about 29km
(18 miles) west of the PTH 10 and PTH 5 junction. Go north on PR
366 (gravel road) to Wellman Lake access road.
Location & Description of Subdivision:
Wellman Lake is 408 hectares (1008 acres) in size, has 21km (13
miles) of shoreline, a maximum depth of 15 meters (49 feet) and a
mean depth of 3.5 meters (11 feet). The boat launch and public
beach are in the day use area adjacent to the campground and the
store and lodge are situated at the south end of the lake. The
subdivision plan has provided a natural buffer space between the
front lot lines. The average lot size is 1/3 acres but may vary due
to topographical requirements.
Services: The subdivision has gravel
road access, Hydro and MTS. Local septic services are available. A
treated water supply is available in the day use area (seasonal).
Local limited retail services (seasonal) are found at Wellman Lake
Store/Lodge or full services are provided in the Town of Swan River
to the north or in the City of Dauphin to the south.
