Contaminated/Impacted Sites Program


Introduction

Welcome to the Contaminated/Impacted Sites Program.

The purpose of this program is to administer The Contaminated Sites Remediation Act (CSRA) and the Contaminated Sites Remediation Regulation (CSRR). The program is primarily administered by Environment Officers within the Environmental Programs and Strategies Branch; however, regional Environment Officers with the Environmental Compliance and Enforcement Branch are active in site inspection and enforcement. .

Primary responsibilities of this program include:

  • review and concurrence of Remediation Plans (RP)
  • inspection of remedial activities
  • review of Environmental Site Assessments (ESA)
  • site inspection of ESA activities
  • inspection of monitoring activities
  • investigation of complaints and suspected sites
  • inspection, monitoring and review of soil recycling facilities and single use sites.
  • designation of sites under the CSRA
  • enforcement of the CSRA

New

As of April 1, 2014, new amendments to the CSRA and CSRR come into effect.  Manitoba Conservation and Water Stewardship is currently updating our guidelines to this program and these will be made available on this website as soon as they are completed.
